ABSTRACTThe students are most prone to traffic accidents. One of the cities in Indonesia with the number of victims of accidents are relatively high for students is Kediri city, East Java. The number of traffic accidents in the Kediri city based on data from Kediri City Police in 2014 was as much as 381 cases and ironically it is known that 75% of accident victims are students. Based on these data, it can be seen that three of the four victims of a traffic accident in the Kediri city in 2014 were students. This research aim to propose the implementation plan of School Safety Zone in Kediri City. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and MKJI method. Results from this study showed that on the segment Veteran street and Penanggungan street, Kota Kediri there are 11 school locations that have direct access to the highway, either kindergarten, elementary, junior high, or high school, so the volume of pedestrian crossing and down is relatively high. Both of these roads have a Level of Service A and the vehicle speed is relatively high. Thus, the risk of traffic accidents involving students will be very high. Therefore, the traffic management such as School Safety Zone is necessary in order to prevent accidents.ABSTRAKKelompok usia pelajar sekolah merupakan kelompok yang paling rawan mengalami kecelakaan lalu lintas. Salah satu kota di Indonesia dengan jumlah korban kecelakaan yang relatif tinggi untuk usia pelajar sekolah adalah Kota Kediri, Jawa Timur. Jumlah kecelakaan lalu lintas di Kota Kediri berdasarkan data Polres Kota Kediri tahun 2014 adalah sebanyak 381 kasus dan ironisnya diketahui bahwa sebesar 75% korban kecelakaan adalah pelajar. Berdasarkan data tersebut, maka dapat diketahui bahwa 3 dari 4 korban kecelakaan lalu lintas di Kota Kediri tahun 2014 adalah pelajar sekolah. Pada penelitian ini akan membuat usulan rencana penerapan Zona Selamat Sekolah (ZoSS) di Kota Kediri. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan MKJI. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pada ruas Jl. Veteran dan Jl. Penanggungan, Kota Kediri terdapat 11 lokasi sekolah yang memiliki akses langsung ke jalan raya, baik TK, SD, SMP, maupun SMA, sehingga volume pejalan kaki yang menyeberang maupun menyusuri adalah relatif tinggi. Kedua ruas jalan tersebut memiliki Level of Service A dan kecepatan kendaraan bermotor relatif tinggi. Dengan demikian, resiko terjadinya kecelakaan lalu lintas yang melibatkan pelajar akan sangat tinggi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan manajemen lalu lintas berupa Zona Selamat Sekolah guna mencegah terjadinya kecelakaan.
