At loading and unloading activities it is expected that these activities will
take place in an orderly, systematic, fast, safe manner and according to the agreed
plan. However, in reality when the authors carried out the practice at Muara Berau
Transhipment Point, East Kalimantan there was a broken bulk cargo cargo space
in MV. Asian Majesty. When complete loading or hatch on the ship is full it turns
out that the actual cargo on board calculation carried out by the surveyor states
that the total cargo on board is not in accordance with the specified loading plan
and in this case the writer acts as the on board agent on the ship.
The method used in this study is a qualitative method that produces
descriptive data in the form of written words from people and observed behavior
and data reduction data analysis techniques used to simplify the data collected and
sort out the most important ones.
Based on the results of research and discussion of issues regarding the
factors that influence the occurrence of broken bulk cargo cargo in the MV. Asian
Majesty namely (Man) due to misinformation received by the quality control
party with the buyer, (Material) coal particle size that is not appropriate to the
hold condition. The impact caused when there is a broken bulk cargo cargo in the
MV. Asian Majesty, namely the quantity of the final load is reduced, coal cannot
be loaded in its entirety, loading of coal takes longer, incurs additional costs as
compensation because the load cannot be loaded entirely.
In this case it is concluded that the action taken when a coal bulk cargo
cargo space is broken in the MV. Asian Majesty is trimming cargo, reloading
cargo, restowage plan, issuing letter of protest
