Hold cleaning merupakan suatu proses pembersihan ruang muat agar palka siap untuk melaksanakan proses bongkar muat. Pelaksanaan hold cleaning sangatlah penting, karena pada pelaksanaan hold cleaning terdapat prosedur-prosedur yang harus dilaksanakan dengan baik. Adanya hambatan pada pelaksanaan hold cleaning dapat merugikan, baik untuk pihak kapal maupun pihak perusahaan. Oleh karena itu, maka perlu adanya upaya untuk menanggulangi kendala yang menghambat pelaksanaan hold cleaning. Hal itu dilakukan agar pelaksanaan hold cleaning dapat berjalan lancar dan tidak merugikan pihak kapal maupun perusahaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah metode fishbone analysis dan fault tree analysis sebagai metode untuk menentukan kendala apa yang menghambat pelaksanaan hold cleaning muatan clinker dan event-event yang ada pada permasalahan. Adapun rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah kendala apa saja yang menghambat pelaksanaan hold cleaning muatan clinker dan bagaimana cara menanggulangi hambatan pelaksanaan hold cleaning muatan clinker tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kendala yang menjadi hambatan pelaksanaan hold cleaning adalah peralatan yang tidak mendukung dan pelaksanaan prosedur hold cleaning yang tidak dilakukan dengan benar. Sementara itu, upayaupaya untuk menanggulangi hambatan pelaksanaan hold cleaning muatan clinker yaiu perawatan peralatan hold cleaning secara berkala, pelaksanaan safety meeting sebelum hold cleaning, dan pengawasan perwira kapal saat pelaksanaan hold cleaning.

Hold cleaning is a loading room cleaning process so that the hold is ready to carry out the loading and unloading process. The holding cleaning is very important, because at the hold cleaning there are procedures that must be carried out properly. The existence of obstacles during the holding cleaning can be detrimental, both for the ship and the company. Therefore, any efforts are necessary to overcome the obstacles that hinder the hold cleaning. They should be done so that the hold cleaning can run smoothly and not harm the ship and the company. This research uses fishbone analysis and fault tree analysis method for determining what obstacles that hinder the implementation of hold cleaning of clinker loads and the events that occur on the problem. The formulations of the problem are what the obstacles that hinder the implementation of hold cleaning of clinker loads and how to overcome the obstacles of implementation of hold cleaning of clinker loads. The result of the analysis shows that the obstacles on the implementation of hold cleaning is hold cleaning equipments that don’t support and the implementation of hold cleaning procedure that isn’t done properly. Meanwhile, the efforts to overcome the obstacles on the implementation of hold cleaning of clinker loads are maintenance of hold cleaning equipments on a regular basis, implementation of safety meeting before hold cleaning, and supervision of ship officers during hold cleaning
