Asuransi adalah suatu metode bagi pihak-pihak yang menginginkan perlindungan dari berbagai bentuk bahaya, dengan memberikan kontribusi pada suatu dana bersama yang diorganisasikan oleh perusahaan asuransi untuk memberikan pembayaran penggantian kerugian yang mungkin terjadi. Permasalahan yang diambil adalah tentang pelaksanaan isi perjanjian asuransi guna kelancaran proses klaim. Maka ditentukan rumusan masalah bagaimana pelaksanaan isi perjanjian asuransi di PT. Indo Dharma Transport serta upaya apa yang di lakukan PT. Indo Dharma Transport dalam meningkatkan pemahaman isi perjanjian asuransi guna kelancaran proses klaim pada periode 2017-2018.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menentukan prioritas masalah. Terjadi tubrukan pada saat proses sandar tongkang ke kapal besar (mother vessel) serta terjadinya kekurangan muatan pada saat proses pemuatan ke mother vessel (deadfreight). Dan hal tersebut dapat diatasi dengan adanya asuransi di setiap owner baik kapal besar (mother vessel) maupun tongkang dan pertanggung jawaban saat mengatasi masalah klaim kekurangan muatan.
Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pemahaman isi perjanjian asuransi guna kelancaran proses klaim yaitu setiap perusahaan harus diasuransikan agar jika terjadi masalah mudah teratasi dan proses klaim lancar. Banyak perusahaan pelayaran yang menyelesaikan masalah menggunakan cara musyawarah sehingga penyelesaian permasalahan tidak sesuai dengan prosedur perjanjian asuransi. PT. Indo Dharma Transport harus mengetahui pihak owner bekerja sama dengan asuransi atau tidak. Dan PT. Indo Dharma Transport harus paham tentang alur proses penyelesaian asuransi dan klaim.

Insurance is a method for parties who want protection from various forms of danger, by contributing to a joint fund organized by an insurance company to provide compensation for possible losses. The problem taken is about understanding the contents of the insurance agreement to smooth the claim process. So the formulation of the problem is determined how to implement the contents of the insurance agreement at PT. Indo Dharma Transport and what efforts have been made by PT. Indo Dharma Transport in improving understanding of the contents of the insurance agreement for the smooth processing of claims in the 2017-2018 period.
This research uses descriptive qualitative methods to determine the priority of problems. A collision occurs during the process of anchoring the barge to a large vessel (mother vessel) as well as a load shortage during the loading process to the mother vessel (deadfreight). And this can be overcome by the existence of insurance in each owner of both the mother vessel and barge and the responsibility when overcoming the problem of claims of lack of cargo.
From the result of the research it was concluded that understanding the contents of the insurance agreement for the smoothness of the claim process is that each company must be insured so that if a problem occurs it is easily resolved and the claim process smoothly. Many shipping companies resolve problem using delibration so that problem soving is not accordance with the insurance agreement procedure. PT. Indo Dharma Transport must know whether the owner with insurance or not. And PT. Indo Dharma Transport must understand the flow of the insurance settlement process and claims.
