Sewage Treatment Plant merupakan salah satu sistem permesinan bantu
yang digunakan untuk memproses limbah atau kotoran manusia di atas kapal agar
limbah tersebut dapat dibuang ke laut dan tidak menimbulkan pencemaran
lingkungan laut. Latar belakang penulisan skripsi ini adalah ketidakoptimalan
kerja Sewage Treatment Plant, sehingga air limbah aman untuk di buang ke laut.
Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah apakah faktor penyebab tidak
optimalnya Sewage Treatment Plant ?, apakah pengaruh yang di timbulkan
terhadap kelestarian lingkungan laut ? dan apakah upaya untuk mengatasi masalah
pencemaran dilaut yang berasal dari Sewage Treatment Plant ?
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode SHEL, ,metode ini
digunakan untuk menentukan faktor dari permasalahan suatu sistem yang berupa
software (prosedur), hardware (mesin), environtment (alam), liveware (manusia).
Selanjutnya faktor yang sudah ditemukan akan dicari akar dan penyelesainnya
menggunakan metode USG (Urgency, Seriousness, Growth) untuk mengetahui
upaya pencegahan dalam permasalahan ini. Adapun sumber data yang digunakan
yaitu riset pustaka, wawancara dan dokumentasi.
Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah resiko yang ditimbulkan dari
kurangnya perawatan pada Sewage Treatment Plant yaitu terjadinya gangguan
fatal yang menyebabkan sistem Sewage Treatment Plant gagal fungsi. Hal ini
ditandai dengan komponen-komponen Sewage Treatment Plant yang tidak
mampu bekerja secara optimal. Metode perawatan Sewage Treatment Plant harus
dilakukan dengan baik dan teratur sesuai dengan jadwal yang telah diprogramkan
agar kerusakan pada Sewage Treatment Plant dapat dihindari.

Sewage Treatment Plant is one of the auxiliary machinery systems used to
process sewage or human waste on board so that waste can be discharged into the sea
and does not cause pollution of the marine environment. The background of this
thesis is Influence is not optimum performance of Sewage Treatment Plant, so that
the waste water is safe to throw into the sea. Formulation of the problem in this study
is whether the causes of suboptimal Sewage Treatment Plant?, What effect did that
caused to the preservation of the marine environment? and whether efforts to address
the problem of sea pollution originating from the Sewage Treatment Plant?
The research method used is the SHEL method, the method used to determine the
factors of the problem consisting of software (procedures), hardware (machines),
environment (nature), liveware (humans). Further factors that have been found will
be sought and resolutions using the USG method (Urgency, Seriousness, Growth) to
find out how to seek assistance in this matter. The data sources used are library
research, interviews and documentation.
The conclusion of this study is the risk arising from the lack of care at the
Sewage Treatment Plant is the occurrence of fatal disorders that cause system
malfunction Sewage Treatment Plant. It is characterized by components Sewage
Treatment Plant were not able to work optimally. Sewage Treatment Plant treatment
method should be done properly and regularly in accordance with the schedule that
has been programmed so that damage to the Sewage Treatment Plant can be avoided.
