Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor dominan yang
menyebabkan kerusakan impeller pompa sentrifugal air laut dan untuk mengatasi
gangguan serta kerusakan impeller pompa sentrifugal air laut di MV. Oriental
Jade. Untuk memperkuat penelitian ini, didukung landasan teori yang dikutip dari
beberapa pustaka yang membahas tentang turbocharger yaitu kutipan dari Sularso
Haruo Tahara, Poerwanto, Herry Giantodan sumber utama untuk pengambilan
data yaitu instruction mannual book sea water cooling pump. Tretheway, K. R

Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif yang
menggambarkan dan menguraikan obyek yang diteliti. Hasil penelitian ini
menemukan faktor penyebab terjadinya kerusakan impeller pompa sentrifugal air
laut. Faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya kerusakan impeller pompa sentrifugal
air laut di MV. ORIENTAL JADE yaitu faktor kualitas bahan impeller yang
kurang sesuai, zat cair bercampur dengan padatan-padatan kotoran, kurang
berjalannya PMS dan human error dalam mengoperasikan pompa sentrifugal air
laut.
Penanganan kerusakan yaitu dengan mengganti impeller lapis perak,
penggantian filter sea chest yang telah rusak, melakukan perwatan sesuai dengan
PMS dan memberikan pelatihan kerja serta familiarisasi dengan tujuan agar
tercapai kualitas SDM yang mumpuni. Sesuai dengan permasalahan yang telah
ditemukan kesimpulan bahwa impeller lapis perak lebih baik daripada impeller
kuningan biasa, air laut yang akan dihisap impeller harus bersih, sebagai pedoman
kerja PMS harus dijalankan, kualitas SDM berpengaruh terhadap keoptimalan
kerja pompa.

This study aims to determine the dominant factors that cause damage to
the impeller of the centrifugal pump and seawater to overcome the disturbances
and damage to the impeller of the centrifugal pump of seawater in the MV.

The research method used is a qualitative method that describes and
describes the object under study. The results of this study found a factor that
caused damage to the impeller of a centrifugal sea water pump. Factors that cause
damage to the impeller centrifugal pump for seawater in the MV. ORIENTAL
JADE, which is an imprecise quality factor for impeller, liquid is mixed with dirt
solids, PMS is running out and human error is operating in a centrifugal pump for
seawater
Handling damage is by replacing silver-coated impellers, replacing
damaged sea chest filters, performing maintenance according to PMS and
providing job training and familiarization with the aim of achieving quality
qualified human resources. In accordance with the problems that have been found
the conclusion that the silver layer impeller is better than the ordinary brass
impeller, the seawater to be smoked by the impeller must be clean, as PMS work
guidelines must be implemented, the quality of HR influences the pump work
optimism.
