Maintenance System in a periodical time can extend the life of a ship, and
also to increase the productivity of the vessel. Relating to the maintenance of all
components on a vessel are regulated in the International Safety Management
Code (ISM Code) ) chapter 5, section 10 in Maintance Of The Ship And
Equipment. On that basis need to be implemented system of maintenance plan or
called with Planned Maintenance System (PMS) which have been applied
by shipping company on board.
In accordance with the problems encountered in the not optimal
implementation of planned maintenance system (PMS) on the vessel impact on:
lifeboat can not be increased or lowered and the operation of open closed hatch
cover is constrained, so the operational and productivity of the ship was
decreased. In this research, the method used is qualitative method and to analyze
the problems using tools Fishbone and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). In terms of
collecting data, approaches to the object under study through observation,
documentations, interviews and literature studies.
By knowing the causal factors, it is hoped that immediate corrective and
maintenance action can be taken according to Planned Maintenance System
(PMS) so that the shipping and operational activities of the vessel run smoothly
and no loss to the company or crew ship. At the end of this section of the thesis
the author presents conclusions and suggestions.
