Security is a condition of the ship and the port is free of dangers that have
relations with the crime in this case the theft and stowaways. Referring to the
authors conducted research with the formulation of the problem, namely how to
implement the ISPS Code and Standard Operating Procedure on board MV.
African Forest and efforts are made to keep the implementation of the ISPS Code
and SOPs in accordance with international standards.
International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) is a rule
that comprehensive information regarding measures to improve the safety of ships
and port facilities that aims to provide standardized, consistent framework for
evaluating risk, allows the government to offset changes in threat with a case of
changing the value of the vulnerability of the shipsandport facilities through
determination of the level of safety and security measures as appropriate.
In this thesis research method used was descriptive qualitative method is a
method carried out by observation, documentation, interview, literature and
internet browsing methods.
The discovery of stowaway on board and theft tool load, the result of a lack
of knowledge and understanding of the crew in the implementation of the ISPS
Code, a lack of familiarization of the implementation of security on board and
implementation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was not maximum. Steps
to solve this problem is to provide guidance on all the material in the ISPS Code
and the Standard Operating Procedure (Security Briefing), doing familiarisation
and monitoring against the crew when they are on duty.
The conclusions is gives a briefing on all the material contained in the ISPS
Code and Standard Operating Procedure, conduct familiarization, conduct
surveillance against crew. The authors suggest is to giving of material regarding
the ISPS Code and Standard Operating Procedure should be given continuously,
familiarization of the ISPS Code and SOP implemented as much as possible, and
to maximize the role of an active officer in the tasks performed by the crew.
