ABSTRACT
Marqiansyah Budinata, 2016, NIT : 49124358.N, ”Optimalization of Loading
salt in Bulk on MV Rose Atlantic on Year 2015 ” Program of
Diploma IV Nautical Department Merchant Marine Polythecnic
of Semarang, Material Supervisor (I): Capt.Moh. Aziz Rohman,

In loading salt, preventive action is needed to prevent damage of the cargo
and damage of the cargo hold from corrosion due to salt cargo that has corrosive
nature to metal. Based on this fact, writer has research questions 1).How is the
implementation of loading salt on MV Rose Atlantic and 2).How to minimize the
damage of slt cargo during sailing. In this final project, writer discribes the theory
about the implementation of loading of salt in bulk, that is used in making a
research report as a basic to solve the present problem. Research method that used
in this research is qualitative method that describe data in the form of written
words from people and observed behaviour. In this case, collecting data in the
form of approaching to the object by observation, direct interview to the subject,
and using many documents and data that have been related with the
implementation of loading of salt in bulk.
Based on the result of the research that has been done by writer during sea
project on MV Rose Atlantic, many problems had found . During observation of
loading salt, there were some problems in preparation of cargo hold. That
problems are tools for lime coating are not standard for safety and lack of
responsibility by crew after that activity. During protecting cargo, there was no
device that measured relative humidity that resulted the checking only done for
bilges and temperature.
Conclusion is supply of tools were not adequate, implementation of work
was not maximum, and the effort to minimize the damage of the salt cargo was
not appropriate to procedure. This would result the implementation of loading salt
was not effective and efficient. The writer sugestions are: 1).Meeting should be
held with hoping all crew more know about their duty and responsibility.
2).Communication beetwen ship and company must be always good so the tools
that ordered are fit the standard of safety.
