Vessel is part of sea transportation that very needed for carrying good
because it could be done with large of amount and also less cost be taken out,
prefer to other transportation. However that couldn’t be done well without good
skill and knowledge of seafarer. In order to avoid undesirable situation such as
fire, broken stowage, broken cargo, and accident can cause damage of
environmental which effected by human error. Carry out watch keeping that to
be done by officers and all crew must as per valid regulation suitable with
international standard such as : watch keeping at port, on deck, other else, and
Master suppose to control all crew activities in purpose for minimize and prevent
things that could make vessel, person, cargo, and others in danger, , So that could
be reach safe and controlled situation that everyone hoping.
Owner of Motor vessel Sinar Solo is PT. Samudra Indonesia. Address in
Kali Besar Barat street, 54th, West Jakarta and the vessel type is container ship
that has 19 crew, consist of one Master, three officers, three AB, one deck cadet,
one boatswain, one chief engineer, three engineers, one engine boatswain, two
oilers, one engine cadet, one chief cook, and one waiter. Master have right for
give instruction to all crew that have relation with carry out of watch keeping.
MV. Sinar Solo crew’s consist of different national, with different character and
behaviour that come from different educational background with different
certificate he has, it will be give affect when process of loading and discharging,
especially officer on board the ship that could influence mindset to every
individual for face some case, when take decision, understanding about procedure
and ability for operating equipment.
Less understanding of watch keeping procedure and undisciplined crews MV.
Sinar Solo, then Master as representation from company must give briefing and
explanation about watch keeping procedure on board ship to avoid an incidence of
failure or error.
