RBDPKS oil (Refined Bleached Deodorised Palm kernel stearin) is one of
palm oil Products. This oil is semi solid oil type. Based on International Bulk
Chemical Code (IBC Code), this oil is one of grup chemichals class II. RBDPKS
oil has a high level of melting point/freezeing point. The ideal temperatur for this
oil is is 320c – 380 for sea voyage and 320c – 380c for discharging. The Succses of
discharging proses is depends on the succses of cargo handling procedures
because if cargo temperature is lower than melting point temperatur, the oil will
be solid and the power of cargo pump will be affected, which may cause
discharging delayed could not be avoided.
This research was done on MT. Win 2 for 12 months and 19 days. The
method which used is a describing qualitative, with describes the detailed cargo
handling procedures of RBDPKS oil. In this thesis writing, writer use primary
data and secondary data. Primary data ara consist of direct observation of the
research objects, documentation and interview with the rensponsible person. The
secondary data is literature review from any publisher.
The research result showed the correct cargo handling procedur of
RBDPKS oil is focused on temperature control and the procedur of cargo heating
procedur. If cargo temperature close to melting point, cargo heating should be
done immediatly. The writer concluded the main cause cargo handling procedur
of RBDPKS oil along sea voyage on MT. Win 2 could not be optimized is the
condition of cargo handling equipment were not in good condition. The effort to
optimized cargo handling procedures of RBDPKS oil is by improving the working
control to deck crew and test all of cargo handling equipment which will be used.
If the cargo handling equipment were found in not good condition, repairing shoul
be repaired immediatly.
