Main engine is an engine installation consisting of various units or support system and serves to produce thrust to the ship so that the ship can be forward or backward. The existence of the problems in the main engine system disorders especially scaving air that cause less than optimal performance of main engine or decreased. Efforts are being made so that the pressure became normal that perform maintenance and repairs on parts of the scaving air especially the turbocharger in accordance with the correct procedures and in accordance with the manual book. Given the importance of the function of the main engine, then the main engine should be treated properly. In this case the author uses the method shel, where this method is effective enough to know the problems that must be resolved. Shel are software, hardware, environment and Liveware which in theory is about identifying the problems that arise from a system and optimizing but it also discusses the respite care needs to be taken to anticipate how often in what way humans make a mistake, and how they interact with other components. From the research results can be concluded that the cause of the drop in air pressure is less than optimal rinse performance turbocharger, crust attached to the suction air ducts and intercooler engine room to run into problems. The efforts made to overcome these problems is to perform maintenance and repair of turbochargers, perform maintenance on the air supply system to the engine room, treatment intercooler.
