In the system of pump performance, bearing a much-needed role because one of the elements essential components as the foundation of the pump shaft rotation. Bearings should be strong enough to allow the shaft as well as other machine elements work well. Bearing a motion supporting the shaft, a very big role in the operation of the pump working. Each pump has a design specification in the shape and position of each component. Similarly, the bearing, a lot of designs that put the pump bearings at various positions, it is adjusted to its primary function is to support the shaft relative movement. In accordance with the purpose and function of the system in the cargo pump oil tankers are as a medium for transferring or unloading cargo in the form of a liquid form of oil. In order for the cargo oil pump is not impeded, the ball bearing should be clean of dirt. In order to work up the necessary treatment in accordance with the instruction book.
Research method that writer use in preparation of this thesis is descriptive qualitative research method . In this case the author uses the SWOT method as a technique of data analysis to analyze the problems that exist in the breaking of the cargo oil pump , ie what factors cause the rupture in the bearing and what efforts are done to overcome the factors of the problem by identifying the various factors factor systematically against the forces (strengths) , weaknesses (weaknesses) , opportunities (opportunities) and threats (threats) from the environment to formulate strategies that will be taken. The formulation of the problem that the authors lift is What factors cause damage to ball bearing on the cargo oil pump in MT.Klawotong ?. What is the influence of cargo oil pump to the damaged ball bearings in MT.Klawotong ?. What efforts are being made to overcome ball bearing damage to cargo oil pump in MT. Klawotong?
Based on the results of research that has been done on the ship MT. Klawotong on December 08, 2015 until December 09, 2016 can be concluded that the breaking of ball bearings on cargo oil pump caused by two factors, namely 1) Lubrication on the bearings does not work optimally . 2) Used cargo oil pump in drying activity . To overcome the factors - these factors may be giving as much grease so that no space for dirt into the bearing, and lakukan provision of understanding on the pump operator / pumpman the risk of damage when using a cargo oil pump in drying activities.
