Transport loss is familiar in its circumstance, tolerant limit is given. The
amount of loss will affect with vessel’s performance. Vessel which got transport
loss bigger will get negative value from company, especially suspect that crime
happened, and role of officer that understand about this case is needed. Transport
loss that the writer experienced when sea project was not vessel’s fault over all.
But, shore also give impact toward transport loss. Writer found factors both from
vessel and shore, there are: vaporizing cargo, time between vessel until port until
unloading time that took too long.
Based on observation and discussion about transport loss and its impact,
transport loss in MT. Merbau is caused by over-evaporate caused by pipe and
tank’s cover was already leaked also valve that was not waterproof anymore thus
it made huge amount of evaporate. Otherwise, unloading time from vessel took
longer than usual time. From that case, MT. Merbau got transport loss that caused
to negative image from Pertamina Company.
From the result, it could be concluded that decreased cargo happened in MT.
Merbau caused by factors that should be minimalized until tolerant limit that
already determined from shipping company. With knowing causes and effects of
the problem, crew should fix it. Problem from transport loss should be observed
again also increasing quality and mentality of the officers are needed so the
problem could be solved.
