Lubrication system is a system that serves to lubricate each of the components that
intersect and also serves to absorb heat from the parent motor through. So that the lubricant
oil will become hot, so that the heat caused by the tangent components can be normal again,
need a cooling medium that cools lubricant oil, cooling media that is used is sea water. The
purpose of this research is to know the effect of leakage of seawater cooling pipe to the
temperature of lubricating oil that is not ideal.
This research is carried out on board KM. OROENTAL SILVER company owned by
PT. SPIL, for 01 years, 01 days ie from December 11, 2015 to December 12, 2016. Data
sources obtained are primary data and secondary data obtained directly from the place of
study by observation and direct interview with the head of the engine room (KKM) and crew
members, especially crew members of the engine. Documents and literature related to the
title of the script.
The results obtained from this study indicate that the rise in the temperature of
lubricating oil is due to the lack of heat absorption in L.O Cooler due to leakage of seawater
cooling pipe, blockage in capillary pipe, coupled with reduced suction water-cooling pump.
Key word: pipe leaking, minimum heat absorption.
