Anchor job is a work activity on the ship that requires professional skills because this job contains a very high risk. Therefore, the crew is required to maintain safety by using safety equipment. However, on the ship that the author thoroughly still lack of awareness of the crew of the importance of using safety equipment according to SOP. On this basis the researcher formulates the problem of how to optimize the use of safety equipment during anchor job on crew TSS Pioneer 5.
In the writing of this thesis, the researcher describes the theoretical base relating to the effort of optimizing the use of safety equipment in the implementation of anchor job in MV. TSS pioneer 5 is used in research to solve the problems in the main research process related to the optimization of safety equipment for safety.
In this thesis research the researcher use qualitative research method. Qualitative research method using approach method with USG Matrix method, with data collection technique used is observation, library study, interview, and use documentation study.
From the research results found the sequences from which first to be done by the crew of the MV TSS Pioneer 5 in optimizing the use of safety equipment during anchor job. Researchers conducted the study in accordance with the analysis of Urgency, Seriousness, Growth (USG) data showed that the priority of the problem about the lack of use of safety equipment in the anchor job process. This is because the habit of crew who used to ignore the safety equipment in addition to the facility itself is inadequate.
From the above explanation can be concluded that in the optimization of the use of safety equipment during anchor job on crew Ship MV. TSS Pioneer 5 is required because negligence in the use of safety equipment may compromise ship crews and many of the risks that will threaten safety. Efforts that can be done include: providing an understanding of the importance of safety equipment during the anchor job, raising awareness of the crew to use safety equipment at the time of anchor job, increasing the supervision of crew ship, conducting periodic inspection and maintenance of equipment safety equipment, the role of the company.
