The onboard incinerator is one of the auxiliary machineries that has a very
important role to burn sludge, garbage and other waste that can be burned on board.
So that the sludge is not simply thrown into the sea, so as not to cause sea pollution.
The purpose of this study is to determine the cause of the failure of combustion in the
auxiliary Incinerator.
The study was conducted on board the MV. Linda Oldendorff, a company
owned by Oldendorff Carriers GmbH. & Co.KG. Germany for twelve months from
April 2015 to April 2016. Data source obtained is primary data obtained directly from
the place of research by means of observation and direct interview with the Chief
Engineer And other crew members especially from Engine Department, documents
and literature related to the title of script.
The results obtained from this study indicate that the lack of maintenance and
maintenance of the vital parts of the machinery and the understanding will be
detrimental to the work of Incinerator. This is indicated by the frequent occurrence of
burning failure during the operation of the Incinerator.
