MARPOL - How to do it (Manual on the practical implications of ratifying and implementing MARPOL 73/78) was first published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1993 to provide advice on the process of ratiffication, implementation and enforcement of the International Convetion for the prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as modified by the protocol of 1978 relating thereto (MARPOL 73/78). The first revision the 1973 edition of MARPOL - How to do it was published in 2002, followed by a second revisiton in 2012. The letter was conducted mainly as the result of the total revision of MARPOL Annexes I and II and the entry into force of MARPOL Annexes IV and VI. Annex V was also revised in the meantime.
